it's always incredibly fun to watch these threads...Damn system has been out for *counts* a little over 5 months now, which is still less than half a year, and yet there's still a new 'Vita is dead' 'no it's not' thread every week. While it certainly can be doing better than it is, and its initial sales have been crappy, claiming it has no games is a big joke. it has to be. It had the strongest lineup of ANY console or handheld, ever, first and foremost, not to mention we all know how crummy the PS3s lineup was when it launched and look at how well it's done in catching up to the Xbox. It's only 2 million short of the 360 and it did it with a full year less time, selling more units per month than its counterpart.
I mean, it doesn't matter what angle you look at it from, it's too damn early to be singing at a doomsday party. the 3DS had an atrocious launch with much less stuff than the Vita had, and it ended up doing juuuust fine once the heavy hitters came out. PS3 had much the same issue.
If you're honestly in the boat thinking "The Vita is dead", then shame on you, and you're clearly not the kind of person anyone who loves games wants to converse with. Go do whatever it is you do and let us rational and/or optimistic people enjoy what we can.
Besides, the winter is coming. if it makes even 8 million by year's end, that's a damn fine first year for a console. Just because it can't match the industry leader in handheld gaming doesn't make it a failure any more than the PSP's 70+ million sales didn't make it a failure despite the DS making more than double that.
Sit down, shut up, and enjoy what you've got. Nothing good comes from overt negativity; no, you can't argue that you're 'just being logical', because you're not. The system is 5 months old with plenty of great games already and a tonne more on the horizon. All it needs is a "system+memory card" package deal and it'll sell like hotcakes; as it stands it's still a touch too expensive...issues both the PS3 and 3DS had to overcome before kicking ass.
Besides, as it stands we have completely original gamses like Gravity Rush on the system, not to mention some awesome enhanced ports of games like Rayman Origins, Mortal Kombat, and Disgaea 3; plenty of original entries in established franchises like ModNation Racers, Wipeout 2048, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, and Resistance: burning Skies, and a hell of a lot of awesome downloadable games like Super Stardust Delta, Mutant Blobs Attack, Escape Plan, and more on the horizon. Oh, and to make it even better, once Sony gets off its ass and helps integrate the cross system compatibility stuff, games like Playstation All Stars and Sly Cooper 4 are going to really help system sales.
You have 13 months before you're allowed to call the system a failure. It's got a year and a half total before anyone has any place declaring its premature postmortem.
