The PS3 started out slow but its still a sucess especially when compared to the N64 and Sega Saturn.   As long as MS can avoid another RROD fiasco their next system is pretty much guranteed to sell more then the 360.

Not a succes in financial terms, which is what the third console curse entails. 

Why not ?

I'd say the PS3's greatest acomlishment is to be the first console since the SNES that is more powerful and way more expesnive but is  -i will not say winning but with only by 2 mil behind with a whole year less in the market- at a position of clear advantage.

Well they lost money last year didn't they. I wasn't really talking about that though. Financial succes is also not as easy to define as 'this console was profitable', it's also relative to your company's previous products on the market. 

They lost money because of the price drop (and the yen) but it was just for the year. Now the 3DS is doing well.
