Not sure what gamers you hang with, but I know many who would plead to the contrary. Frankly, no amount of trophy hunting exceeds the thrill of being able to buy games between $2.49 &$9.99 a pop (we're talking highly acclaimed titles too), in addition to having Steam Achievements strapped to many of them.
It basically comes down to preference, but at this point (even being a newbie to the PC), I'd take gaming on it before any console, regardless of the reward system.

I don't know. Yes, PC games are dirty cheap but for me Trophies have made so that I must play everything on the PS3. For example, I really like to play through all the Halo games but since they don't have Trophies I won't bother. Now that's the X360 but it's the same with the PC exclusives I am interested in, like Heroes of M&M 6 and Witcher 2.
Btw, why do you describe yourself as a newbie to PC gaming CGI, when you have mentioned playing through a few PC exclusives such as S.T.A.L.K.E.R. through the years?

I've not owned a gaming PC since the mid 90s and even then, it wasn't 100% mine. Also, I've played S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky (actually watched it played most of the way through) & Shadow of Chernobyl (feel like this game's atmosphere just on the short time I played it would suck me through the whole game - which is why I asked the community if the entire game is as moody as the few snippets I played / watched), but I never owned any of them..... until this week :P
So, when I say a "newbie" to the PC, I don't mean to playing games, I mean to building my own from scratch. :P

Cool. I kind of thought you already were a semi-hardcore PC gamer basically, and that you while you were planning to build a new rig decided it was a good opportunity to direct all your focus towards it when it comes to multiplatforms. The latter is still correct, right?
What about GPU, have u decided yet? And you're already downloading games off of Steam before having built your new system?
