Why, what's the significant difference?

Because not many gamers care about Steam achievements like they do about Trophies, which bring you a lot of respect.

Isn't that something that comes with time? It didn't happen from one day to the next with Trophies either.

I hope so but I kinda doubt it. From what I heard the Steam achievements are badly structured compared to console achievements, which also takes away the incentive to hunt for them.

Example: http://www.gamasutra.com/blogs/MichaelRose/20100910/5951/Whats_the_Point_of_Steam_Achievements_Anyway.php

Also, a typical PC phenomenon is that there's a lot of guys with a lot of games but very few of them actually play many games. You have some of these on PSN too (who have like 50 games on their trophy list but each has only 2 or 3% completion, I hate those guys lol) but in general the console guys value each individual game much more and dedicate yourself to it, while on PC you own so many that you tend to get overwhelmed.
