At this point, I'm not convinced that there are that many "NEW 3DS games" coming this year. I mean, outside of the obvious ones, I think that a lot of developers have decided to avoid this holiday season for some reason.
And for the record, nothing stops older titles from selling exceptionally well. Wipeout: The Game, from Activision, sold over 130,000 in America in a single week, a year and a half after launch. It happens. Retailers respond to demand, and they're able to see when demand spikes.
