I think the problem is that people don't understand historical averages, momentum, and the strength of software. Which is exactly why I created the W/W H/W prediction league. I was, by far, the lowest predictor for the PS3 at 7.75m units by Dec. 31. It looks like I might win that one pretty handily, hehe :) Of course, we must understand that with as much as that we want to dog the PS3, it could easily change in 6 months. Wii demand could be met and done with in the US and/or Europe, and have another major system start leading. Or not. Who knows. It can change quickly.
