No, not really. Just Cause 2 uses scaling where everything in the distance was scaled down until you got within a certain range. Xenoblade had no textures pop in or out when you were at different distances.

The grass in that Xenoblade shot ends a few meters away from the characters, the grass on the hills on the right look like blobs of color vs the ground textures up close. If I can notice texture LOD in a static screenshot it must be really aparent in motion, tho I am sure the low resolution helps hide the problem.

Unless of course the game just has patches of the game world with much lower res textures and no grass, that stay the same when up close...

lol i wanted to post exactly that yesterday about the grass and the flat green ground only 20 meters or so further. i even watched a video to see it and yes, the low resolution helps to hide it because if you can't see it so sharp and everything is a little bit blurred, you don't see it so much but it is pretty obvious that only some meters in front of the characters the details are lost and there aren't gras blades anymore. and it is also no wonder that a game which only has a few trees shows exactly the same amount from long distance or short distance and a game which has hundreds of trees in one area, that this will lose some of them if you look at it from distance. but even then, just cause 2 has more trees from 1km distance than xenoblade has from 10 meters distance.

This. Pretty much it. I like Xenoblade, but i find it funny how people put it on some graphical pedestal, it isnt doing anything better that wasnt already done years ago on the PS2/GC/Xbox consoles. and to compare it to JC 2 or any of the open world games for HD/PC is lunacy as those games boast higher field of view with more details and higher resolution across the board, thats not a knock on the game makers its just the way it is with the Wii hardware just being that much weaker
