And did DS do a lot better or was it in this same situation at the time?

I know quite a few casual gamers in this country who bought both a Wii and a DS, who haven't got a 3DS yet.   I think, like radish said, a lot of people don't know it's any different from a normal DS yet.  And a lot of those casuals have moved onto gaming on their phones.

I don't see the 3DS taking off over here the way the DS did.  In fact, I don't know anyone who owns one at the minute, but I haven't particularly asked many people :P
