I just skimmed the OP in a rush to post my story because I'm a self absorbed asshole.
My sister got married to a guy (not a bad guy btw) and his wedding ring disappeared from their house. The guy's brother claimed that he found some third guy with the wedding ring and that he took the ring back by force. The brother returned the ring to them but ONLY if they paid him $20 for his trouble.
Great guy, that brother in law. Great guy. I didn't hear about this until after it was all over but I think I could have gotten that ring back for free.
