Yeah, I totally see where you're coming from. For me, Uncharted is a series I can't go without. But am I ready to spend 400$+ for it? No. So, I have to wait till the system is 2nd hand. I mean you can go with Steam for your XB/PC games, that's a great idea, but what guarantees that these will also be affordable on release date? It really doesn't. Also, on the XB you have the option of 2nd hand games. As such the advantage is mostly for indy games really. Because in the end you're gonna wait for the XB to go 2nd hand for Halo, and so for that you can get your XB/PC games on the 2nd hand machine anyways. I know where you're coming from I'm just not sure I understand the strategy and I don't think steam is the only answer. It's a good one but there are others too. The WiiU is another case. Maybe it's too expensive to boot. After a few years (2 to 4) you can get it on ebay 2nd hand for cheap and handpick a few games that people don't want to play anymore that you like (say 3D Mario, Zelda and Metroid) and you're golden. Also, how many PS exclusives will you really want to buy for 50$? Even as a Nintendo fan I rarely ever buy a game full price. That's just how I do it. So even with the PS, are all the exclusive first-day buys? I wouldn't see that for a PS fan. |
We've all done our financial dance with Gamestop. I've seen my roommates Steam account for about a year now and the sales have always been good, but the summer sale just took things to a breaking point for me. Yes there are second hand games at Gamestop, but my point also was that even if you add up a Gamestop sale for the same games with a Steam sale, you'll still end up saving yourself quite a bit of cash. I got the Crysis Collection and the 2k Collection for seventy dollars on Steam, thanks to a friend here reminding me that I dont have to have the powerful PC yet and I can still get the games. Just getting two Crysis games on Xbox Live would set me at $40-$50.
Bioshock
Borderlands
Duke Nukem Forever (Yeah, I know)
Spec Ops Online
Civilization
The Darkness 2
Crysis
Crysis 2
Crysis Wars
LOL...thats just madness.
