I know that the 3DS and Vita can both go up to 8GB but no game has used that much yet.

For the original DS it was 8mb - 512mb.

Are you sure, according to this site so far it's 4GB?

"Cards for the Nintendo DS (NTR-005) currently range from 64 megabits to 4 gigabits (8–512 MB)"

It's 4 Gigabits, not bytes.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_DS_Game_Card

It also mentions there that cards for the 3DS are currently 1-8GB (that's byte) in size.... (but games didn't have to take it all up... apparently launch game data was 2 GiB, which is 256MB)
