I was definitely disappointed. I've been waiting for this for years, so it was a letdown. The first third to half of the movie was pretty bad, and was the main issue overall. Everything just felt so anticlimactic and rough around the edges, which is without a doubt the director's fault. I really felt almost nothing for the characters of uncle Ben or aunt may. The movie definitely got a lot better from the second third/half of the movie.
I really liked Andrew Garfield and Emma stone, think they both did great jobs, especially Garfield. The lizard was a much better villian than I was expecting. He was so big and powerful that I was actually on the edge of my seat in the fighting scenes bc it really seemed like he could crush Spiderman if he had the chance.
I definitely think all the negatives of ASM were due to directorial issues. Marc Webb has done one movie that he's known for, and it was a depressing romance movie. I love Sony, but I have no idea what they were thinking entrusting their biggest franchise in his hands
