Actually it is a possibility but only if both Sony and MS goes with it, I mean I can see Sony doing it but MS nope.
We could easily be seeing third party software coming out on the current gen systems and the Wii-U multiplatform form beyond 2014.

Sure, if you want to think of it that way. It would be crazy to think it wasn't going to happen anyways, the twins took forever to finally amorce the manufacturers would be nuts to just phase them out from one day to the next.
Seriously, it has little to do with the WiiU at this point.

Yeah it has little to do with the Wii-U, but it opens up possibilities which is always nice in the end for the average gamer and for smaller based companies with smaller budget games.
Remember the PS2 in its final years (when it was getting software), it was still getting software even though little bit and lesser known franchises.
But I honestly think that third party software that would get released on the Wii-U could possibly be released on the PS3/Xbox360 but only if the third party companies make it for the systems unless they go exclusive like Muramasa.
This is great news for gamers as it gives a choice for them. (And no I dont mean the article, I meant if the above I posted is true xD).

Aaah! The PS2 is the best-selling console of all time. I don't think the comparison is fai-er.
