Yes, but once these next TVs that have their own apps (already available) become mainstream and are in homes, people no longer need to buy TV or console. It would be a simple app away.

Also, wouldn't this kind of streaming tech produce A LOT of traffic, especially if the next Playstation would merely be a service like this and not a console? I also don't like the idea to be dependable on the internet to get access to my games. Are they even my games or do I merely rent them for the time I use them? There are a lot of people who complain that they are forced to be online to play even single player games and I am one of them. I don't like this direction but to each their own I guess. It's good that every console manufacturer chooses their own path so I still can choose what style suits me best. |
Gakai works with server clusters located near the area of service. If the latency is too high in one area or they can't offer service in that area due to cost, they just won't and a message will appear to the user notifying them as such.
