I still think you're missing what Oni's trying to say though. Whether they buy the console or not is not what determines it. What determines it is the reasons for not buying the console and that one game. If it's money, I think we can all understand that. But if its because of specs or some bs like that, then you know the answer to this. |
I know, I was referring to the ending of the sentence on its own. I meant to say is that you can be a fan of the series and not buy a console for the one game you're a fan of, but the argument of what constitutes a fan is an argument on its own and some people may argue that it may. The way people tell someone is a fan is not measurable. So I decided to refocus the topic. I do agree that a "fan" shouldn't be judged by whether or not they buy every system the game comes on. Some people see themselves as diehard fans and don't buy "spin-off" games of the series. Some people think being a fan means playing every game, regardless of if it's "bad" or not. This argument could go on forever, though. Personally, I think the reason why so many people argue about this is because being a fan may be part of who they are, and people who try to fit into this group who don't meet this standard they hold may want to write the others off. Or I could be wrong.
