The major people who are supporting the PS3 have to be new core buyers and tech enthusiasts, unless we see movement in Move hardware alongside it like MS with Kinect I cannot assume anything about the casuals. Casuals are backing MS, and the core are backing the PS3. Sony always gets a surge of buyers towards the end of their lifecycle once the price seems appropriate to buy. and $249 is decent. once the PS3 hits $199 in 2013 all hell is going to break loose with the people who have waited patiently for a console like the PS2 era.

Seems too black and white to say casuals are supporting MS and core supporting PS3. Multiplat sales this year show the core are more then representing the 360. Ever thought a mixture of tech enthusiasts are buying the PS3? Because its software and especially exclusive sales this year leave more to be desired.
I think in 2013 any PS3 price cut will have the buzz taken away by WiiU gaining momentum and the announcement of the next Xbox and PS4.
