This is the Magic of Zelda. With every new game there will be people who call it the best in the series and others who will say it doesn't deserve the name.
I need to get back to Skyward Sword (I was last at the timeboat in the sand lake). Though it is not the best Zelda game I have played, and the sense of danger seems pretty weak (Go look at ALttP if you want a true threat), and the world is not an open sandbox, it is still a pretty fun game. The Motion+ in the game is pretty fun, despite the constant calibrating(which became second nature about an hour in).
I may not love the game, but I enjoy it enough to want to go back, unlike Spirit Tracks. The art style was fun, and some of the ideas are really cool. I love fighting enemies in it, though the undead pirate was a pain in the booty(pun intended).
The problems I have with the game, is I don't like any of the NPCs outside of the ones in the Academy. I find many of them overly cute, or have little substance. I am not able to develop an attachment to any of them. Unlike the NPCs in OoT, ALttP, LA, or even PHG.
My other problem is the stupid reminders every time you turn on the game.:
"Hey Link a Red Rupee is worth 20"
"Hey Link you got a bug, let me show you where that goes, now you have 54 of that bug. Aren't you glad I showed you exactly where that goes in your inventory? You know since you may forget where I put the last 53 of that exact same bug!"
"Hey Link the Batteries are low in your Wii remote, I've told you this the last 6 times you have turned on the game, but for some reason they aren't dead yet.... Hum.."
"Hey Link, your hearts are low. I'm telling you this since you may not have noticed the annoying blinking and alarm clock sound coming out of the speakers of your TV. You know, since you have gotten old and couldn't remember playing the original Zelda when you were 9 and that low hearts is bad. Maybe you should go get the Blue ring, that will make you a lot stronger. Oh and the Raft, that was cool."
