I won't dispute a single thing in the OP - but for me personally, my son (and daughter) are HUGE Zelda fans and have played every game in the series since OoT. Many times my son tried to get me to play, but I always found Zelda games to be a bore. I tried to get into OoT, TP and PH (which I played the most but only because I was on a plane for 12 hours with little else to do).
Skyward Sword is actually the first Zelda that's captured my attention and that I'm enjoying playing through (albeit slowly as I rarely have the time needed to spare). So in that respect, Nintendo did something right here.
On the flip side, my kids think it's one of the weaker Zelda's in the series.
