| binary solo said: 17% of PS3 install base and 11 percent of 360 install base is around the 1.5 million mark (assuming total LTD sales is > install base by perhaps 5% - which might be something like the aggregate cosole failure rate). So at least the article is internally consistent, and consistent with VGC LTD sales in the UK for PS3 and 360 for that matter. We may think 17% and 11% are ridiculously low figures, but just look at the software tie ratio for both consoles. I bet almost every member of this website has a lot more games in their library (at least for their most favoured console) than the tie ratio. I have more games for my PS3 than the 360 tie ratio in the USA, which is the highest tie ratio of any current get console in in any region. In fact my own personal tie ratio is probably double the USA overall tie ratio for 360. And I'm not exactly the most prolific gamer on this website. Face it, we here are not representative of your "average" console owner. So our impression of what might be typical across the entire console owner base might not be all that accurate. |
not sure why you think we compare it with vgchartz users? i compare it with my friends list which has 30 real life friends or old colleagues included and they all bought something last year and if i look at their friends list, most of those i don't know have bought something as well last year which i can see (dlc's, arcade game...) not to speak about themes, avatar shit and things like that. ok i have to say, i have no kids in my list^^ but some parents who have a 360 because of their kids
