Sad news, but not surprising given that it's Activision.

And (un)fortunately it's a clear symptom of the problems that Activision will face in the future. As some have already said they are focused on the immediate revenue and are forgetting the long term business. Add the fact that they have closed so many talented studios (see Zim's list) and you get the perfect recipe for disaster if one of their franchises starts to fail.

And that makes me wonder, how much of the total revenues of Activision-Blizzard come from Activision now? I'm sure that it's less than what it used to be.

and then when CoD starts to fade they will buy another talented up and comming team and IP and start again, Activison don't create studios and IP they buy them. Infinity ward they brought after CoD was a success, same with Neversoft with Tony Hawk, same with Guitar Hero. Only 3 of their current 12 studios were founded by Activision.

Also with the addition of Skylanders and CoD elite Activision actually pulled ahead of Blizzard last quarter due to the decline in WoW. This quarter Diablo 3 will raise Blizzard ahead, and we shal see if Mists of pandaria can counter CoD Black Ops II + Skylanders Giants + Transformers.

Thanks for the sales info.

I see their business model and, imho, it's a very poor one. Mostly because they will reach a point where they won't be able to purchase the next big thing because another publisher will buy it before them or because the developers of said game have had bad experiences with them and will prefer to go with another publisher.

And even if they decide to go with Activision, they will probably do what Bungie has done: secure the rights of the IP so that Activision can't do what they have done with CoD.
