Why do people hate on Mario?

this is a stupid answer and a way to think about it, people could call me a sony fanboy but honestly i just really love sony games and playstation consoles. but i dont hate mario, i actually love him! It's their mascott, of course he is! they been milking the franshise for about 30 years now, its just way to much! the N64 is my second favorite console and i probably finished super mario 64 a million times, but after that nintendo did nothing new with the franshise, well nothing major. mario 64 was a jump from the 2D world to the 3D, but after that what happened? (Is there really that much to do to it? If you change it too much it wouldn't even be a Mario game.) yes new gameplay but what about the story? "bowser kindnapped the prinsess go save him mario!" thats literally the hole story......
