Why do people hate on Mario?

i love halo and the master chief but i would hate to get a racing game with master chief, a jump&run with a grunt and tennis game with cortana and whatever. ok better than not getting them but i would rather like to see nintendo bringing more games with totally different characters with totally different art style which don't remind you that it is still just a character out of the mario world.

They actually don't have the same style.

Let's say we get a Mario Tennis, NSMB, and a... Mario Kart in the span of a year or so. That's perfect! They all have different play styles and characters.

But, when we get two 2D Mario's that is when it gets ridiculous. (Ala, this year with NSMBU and NSMB2.)
