I was speaking from my point of view, not for everyone else, you should probably do the same unless you want to look like an idiot. And I didn't call Mario generic. Anyway, I'll respond to what you said... So you mean those generic new IPs like LittleBigPlanet or Heavy Rain? I really don't see how God of War or Uncharted are generic franchises. I find it extremely odd that you'd call Nathan Drake a generic character, I mean how many wise-cracking treasure hunters are there in video games? He's the only one as far as I can tell. And how many ancient greek Gods are there in video games? What other games are like God of War? What cliches? Have you even played an Uncharted or GOW game? It's fine if you think the characters are boring, but there are millions that disagree with you so please don't state it as fact. Remember that's your opinion, like I did with Mario. |
Nathan Drake is a generic character who literally has no special abilities or features. He's just a selfish man who puts his friends in danger and kills a ton of people for treasure. He can't fly, shoot fireballs, or travel through time. He usings guns as his main weapon like pretty much every new character today. His platforming is nothing new and is just a copy of the Prince of Persia series. Mario's been wall kicking since 96 and can far outjump and is much more acrobatic then Nathan Drake.
As far as treasure hunters go. Wario is a treasure hunter and has been doing so far longer then Nathan Drake. Link is also a treasure hunter.
God of War is just a more voilent version of Devil May Cry.
To clarify I don't think Nathan Drake is boring just generic. He's just another Hollywood action hero like character who weve seen tons of time before in movies.
I'm an advocate for motion controls, Nintendo, and Kicking freaking Toad to the Moon!
