this is a stupid answer and a way to think about it, people could call me a sony fanboy but honestly i just really love sony games and playstation consoles. but i dont hate mario, i actually love him! but what people hate is not the franshise its the way nintendo treats the franshise, everything they make is either mario or zelda (for consoles) and mario is just freaking everywhere! they been milking the franshise for about 30 years now, its just way to much! the N64 is my second favorite console and i probably finished super mario 64 a million times, but after that nintendo did nothing new with the franshise, well nothing major. mario 64 was a jump from the 2D world to the 3D, but after that what happened? yes new gameplay but what about the story? "bowser kindnapped the prinsess go save him mario!" thats literally the hole story...... nintendo keeps bragging about "the experiance" of the game, but they completely ditched there fans, as their fans grew up and matured more mario didnt, the franshise stayed the same. nintendo did nothing to make the franshise mature with its original fans. and if you think by making the game mature with the audince mean add gore and curse words to it then you understand nothing about games. what i mean is make a story, a real one! make us feel mario is a human, bowser is evil. not just tell us it MAKE US FEEL IT, but they didnt. its still the same old stuff, its why poeple moved on to the ps2 and xbox, its why hardcore gamers preffered the xbox 360 and ps3. and its why the media gives more attention to sony and microsfts consoles and games. i really do love mario but i hate how the franshise became when i think about where it could be.
