Well right now it would need a good store, which it may be getting, and plenty of services like netflix, which it seems to be getting, but it's missing simple features (correct me if I'm wrong) like an achievement system, we don't know much about personalisation, how much content the store will hold, it STILL lacks gamertags, and uses friend codes instead. You could call that "going our own way," but it's clearly not as good a system as XBL/PSN has for friends, and it's so simple. Keep in mnd that these are the features of current gen consoles, Orbis/Durango will definitely come with massive update to their existing service, while the Wii U is barely getting up to speed with the services on their predecessors. That doesn't bother you? (So I'm not really sure what it needs, but I know for sure that it doesn't have them since all that's been announced for it are features the PS360 has, while their successes will, like I said, get a massive update.) |
Fair enough, here is the data:
The e-shop is good, could be better, and the WiiU one will be better than that. (Check)
Netflix was showcased at E3, hulu already confirmed.
WiiU achievement system has already been confirmed.
Gamertags is just a term, as friend codes. It's been addressed in a vgchartz thread that they will likely be what you're looking for. "Going our own way" was not meant with regards to this.
As for orbirango, your guess is as good as mine. This far, Nintendo doesn't need streaming games, DL is already good, streaming will be a plus and can come in an update. If Netflix is possible as an app, so is streamed gaming.
