whats the point of locking theads?

it was not pointless, it was about morphing the thread. Post in it when other threads where boring as sh-t. So you could look in there and see if the conversation had hit your fancy. If the thread sucked then it would die it's own death. This is something I think this site needs to be more leanient on. I see this place has a low capacity of fans. This is why. People don't like being locked and pushed around about pointless rules. I agree with the bashing and arguments but it seems most article's have arguments, actually all the time. So what the dif?

A "push up your posts" thread is generally seen as pointless and rightly so imo. Has no direction, it's just there for getting a higher post count and more points. And besides, we already have one of those that the mods leave alone, it's called the "let's play the word game" thread.

Not many threads get locked, can you send me just 3 threads that were locked without good reason? I don't think you could. 

@underlined Not true, sometimes shitty arguments will be the only thing giving a thread life, or off-topic discussion will take over the thread, they can take ages to die off.

@bolded The difference is some people can have civil arguments and others cannot, if a thread is full of civil arguments, then it's good discussion and the thread should continue, if the arguments are bitter or get personal or whatever than it isn't good discussion, and if all the discussion has turned into these kind of arguments, it should be locked so that BS doesn't keep getting on the front page and hot topics.

This site probably has the best gaming forum out there, it has plenty of fans, including me.
