With these numbers one can't deny the importance of Japan in this whole industry. Can't really believe some people refuse to believe that.

Japan is important, but what people have denied is whether CRITICAL for your console to succeed in Japan. 360 proved that it is not- Japan nearly ignored it, and it's still going to be a much bigger success than the PS3*.

*Before a bunch of people jump on me for this statement - success is about making money, and while the PS3's best case scenario for it's entire run is breaking even, the 360 is a very profitable venture.

No, it's not.

With home consoles, success is about getting that console in as many homes as possible.

The making money part only matters if you're an investor.

Well that's just completely wrong. In the business world the very definition of success is about profits and yes that includes consoles. If your company sold 200 million of a console but didn't make a penny from it at all, it wasn't successful. Now a lot of the time businesses will lose money or take risks to have a better chance of being successful in the long run, which is what most console makers do.
