You make some points, but there is nothing proven about the WIi U at this stage of the game that could cause a massive amount of core gamers to jump from the PS3 and 360 to the Wii. When next gen hits the WiiU will be so far behind in graphics their versions of COD will look gimped. Kinda of like the way I felt playing Skyrim on the 360 whilst my roommate played it on the PC on ultra high graphics. Skyrim wasn't the best made game but with ultra high graphics it is amazing. Being slightly greater than currenty gen consoles in power is nothing amazing. The way Nintendo is going third place is definitely assured to the Wii U. They certainly chose the best way to come after the core again once the casuals give gaming a rest.
