Calling Elton John a fag is a hate crime.  Calling a crazy religion (or any religion) a cult is pretty accurate.

Then you too are responsible for a hate crime. Discriminating based on religion.

Oh, so we're just supposed to give dangerous cults carte blanche on their behavior and not call them out on anything so that they should have the right to destroy our society, right?  America is supposed to be founded on the principle of freedom and the theocracy that it is the true desire of Mormons to have in America is antithetical to that.

It's a hate crime because you are discriminating based on religion in the same way that a bother type of bigot would discriminate against Elton John. If calling Elton John a fag is a hate crime, then calling a religion like Mormonism a cult is equally a hate crime. Just because Mormons believe in something different from what you believe, doesn't absolve you of guilt when spreading hateful slander about them.

The problem has nothing to do with he believes, the problem is there's nothing factually correct about Mormonism, and Mormonism remains a Secretive Organization that tries to hide quite a lot of its teachings from the majority of its members as well as from the general public as is attested that any time a professor at one of their universities tries to reveal the truth about Mormonism then that professor is summariily fired from their jobs and excommunicated from their church.

Also, Mormonism keeps tabs on the actions of all of its followers in very insidious ways.  See the section on the purpose of the LDS' Strengthening Faith Commission in Historian Richard Abanes' "One Nation Under Gods:  A History of the Mormon Church"  ( http://www.amazon.com/One-Nation-Under-Gods-History/dp/B0058M6RXO/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1340108430&sr=1-1&keywords=one+nation+under+gods ) and the sections on Mormonism in Yale Professor Harold Bloom Ph. D's "The American Religion:  The Emergence of the Post-Christian Nation" for more general information on what Mormonism really is( http://www.amazon.com/The-American-Religion-Emergence-Post-Christian/dp/0671867377/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1340108529&sr=1-2&keywords=the+american+religion ).
