first of all the Pad will not be sold separately at the start of the next gen at least so the only way to get it is with the WiiU system so you can't "add" it to your Wii console.
a bit of marketing will solve the problem for those who don't know that it is a new system. "we brought you Wii and now we bring you the successor, the Wii U!" or something.
Reggie made it perfectly clear that this was the new system and its controller on the show so i don't get why the guy didn't get it.
