I don't quite get it because many handhelds have been more or less exact replicas of home consoles games during the 2D era (GB & GBColor was like NES, GBA was like SNES). It's just that 3D games were never well replicated on hadhelds. Now, finally, they are. |
I don't really get it, either. It's always being said that Nintendo's handheld games are "real handheld games" while Sony's are just smaller, cheaper versions of console type games, but with a few exceptions the best sellers on the DS are all things that either are on consoles or would be right at home on a console. It's even more pronounced with the 3DS, where Nintendogs is the only million seller that wouldn't really fly on a home console. The real difference seems to be that Nintendo - in addition to having insanely popular IPs - treats its handheld games with just as much respect as its console games (maybe moreso) whereas Sony has just tended to have some B-team make a spinoff for the PSP. Resistance: Burning Skies seemed to fall into this category, too, but Uncharted: Golden Abyss and Gravity Rush make me hopeful that maybe this won't be the case with the Vita.
Anyway, good review!
