How much do graphics add to your experience? (technical graphics)

I like pretty graphics, but that doesn't mean technical graphics. For example, I think Gears of War is a bad looking game, but Tales of Vesperia looks stunning, the art matters more for me. Combing great technical graphics and art is the best though.
