I've been playing consistently for about 2 1/2 years. I want to eventually get another guitar as EGM 81/85 pickups are great for playing metal, but they aren't very good at playing much else.

Nice, I always wanted to play electric guitar, a buddy I know said he was selling his stratocaster, amp all the cords and case for $500 he said he paid over $1500 for everything but just never plays it. If I could afford it I'd buy it!

Sounds like a good deal. You should find out what amp and stratocaster he's selling, so you know exactly how much of a good deal you're getting. 

He's a pretty good friend and was really honest about it, and it is a great deal. The guitar is made in mexico I think so a lot of people prefer American, I obviously dont care. The amp it brand new I seen it not sure what kind. He just wants to get rid of it.
