The reason why there is so much violence in many games is because they sell very well. People that enjoy those games should be able to buy them. Personally I think that violence should be depicted more ugly and not to be something that's fun, but that's just me. It's a natural cycle though since this has already happened in cinema. Directors like Sam Peckinpah showed the nasty aspects of violence and guys like Quentin Tarantino have showed how "cool" it can be. Now what's the difference between Tarantino and Peckinpah? About 98% of VGCharterz know who Tarantino is and about 2% know Peckinpah. This also shows how out of touch amp316 is with the present, but he is in touch enough to know that people should be able to enjoy God of War if they want to because he isn't a tree hugging hippie.
I think that I'm going to go watch the Wild Bunch now.
