it depends which games and you can also play games with "bad" graphics and have fun but everyone who has played a game with great graphics which wouldn't be possible on last gen and thought "omg that looks so good" knows that graphics can push a game a lot even if it would be good without that.
just look at the impressive god of war boss fighs and how many times do people think "omfg that looks so awesome"? sure it would be fun with worse graphics as well but i wouldn't have to play with open mouth because of those freaking details then.
and i can't play 3d games on the ps1 or n64 or even ps2/xbox anymore. it isn't much fun just because of the graphics.
i know many nintendo fans say it isn't so important but if they will play a metroid in 10 years on wii u's successor and have to play metroid or so on wii then with low res and worse graphics in general i bet they don't like it a lot anymore even if gameplay is still great
