He said "kind of", meaning almost but not quite. You intentionally omitted the "kind of" to make it look like something different then what it is.

People are fudging what he said to suite there preference including the writer at Kotaku with his "wants to make a game a little more like Doom or Call of Duty" when Miyamoto is saying absolutely nothing of the sort and in fact made it clear that such a thing would not be the case.

Do you call games like Kings Field first person shooters? I would not doubt that whoever wrote that took liberties witht he translation of his words as well as Miyamoto does not speak English. That interview needs more context and transcripts.

I definitely didn't intend for it to be misleading, I don't even think it's misleading. I don't why you jumped to that conclusion. As mike (from morgantown) said, the FPS genre doesn't mean a game is necessarily violent, it's not my problem if a few users think of explosions and blood when they hear the term 'FPS.'

The man himself calls it a first-person shooter, multiple times.
