That is insane. So because you could either legally could obtain the files again or spend vast amounts to sue companies it is totally okay for the government to take them? Well so if the government took your car and left it in an impound lot where you had to pay thousands of dollars to get it back, that would totally be okay because you have a legal way to get it back?
I think this shows just how corrupted some governments have become. As well as how little they understand the internet. The solution to a company that offers a legal service, which some people use illegally, is not to take everything that company and the people who use it has. It is to try and find ways to stop the illegal use of it or force the company to do/attempt to do so.
