| VGKing said: Deny Deny Deny. That's what Nintendo is doing. They can't pre-maturely announce a new 3DS model and risk horrible sales for a few weeks while people wait for the new model. It's why Apple announces stuff and releasing like the next day. It's the best strategy. |
The difference is Apple has never denied that a new model of anything they've produced was set for future release; they simply don't list the specifications or designs, which is their business call to make. Anyone remotely familiar with Apple product release cycles can essentially predict when the next update for any product they intend to buy is most likely to be released. Intentional inventory shortages signify when a particular model is being phased out or soon to be replaced with an update.
While I'm not going to say this will necessarily come back to bite Nintendo on the ass if and when they do release a redesigned 3DS, a better response probably would have been to say it's not policy to comment on unannounced products in development for future release.
