Mr. Mafoo, I think overall you're on the right track but you're forgetting two very important things:

Until the 360 released, the two most unreliable consoles in history (to my knowledge, at least) were the PS1 and PS2.

While Sony seems to have gotten it right with the PS3, it hasn't always been that way (though every other Sony product I have owned over the years has been super-reliable).

Never had any problems with either mine, but did have alot of problems having games load properly with my NES/SNES/N64 because of the cartridges.

As far as I know, the only cartridge system that had widespread problems was the original NES because of its slot-and-push system, which caused most of the annoyance. The system usually still worked, but people were rigging stuff to keep it going.

Whereas the PSX/PS2 problems are widely documented and there were no workarounds for some of the problems (other than turning the PSX upside down in some cases). Not every one failed (mine didn't, after all) but the problems were widespread.
