Theres a few reasons.

Apparently Gearbox were going to show Aliens Colonal Marines, but they weren't happy with the quality of the video presentation prepared for the conference.

Secondly, jealousy over this decision by Nintendo choosing Aliens maybe.

Thirdly, perhaps the Wii U version isn't ready to be shown yet.

I didn't know about what Gearbox was doing, but that is a bit surprising, why not try to have both? :S

Gearbox?  How about Borderlands 2 as a surprise?

I know for me and my friends at least, having Borderlands 2 would've made us all very happy :D
