Consider this as a strategy by Nintendo:

Nintendo was trying to make it clear the big differential it has between itself and Microsoft and Sony.

By showing a Batman games millions of people already played...

Differentiator for Nintendo, particularly if they are trying to get third-party support is NOT in the software, it is in the hardware and what it can do.  And yes, by showing Batman adapted to the features of the second screen, it can show how it differentiates itself from Microsoft and Sony, while being able to also get the third-party titles it had on the system.  Showing a highly rated title like Batman, enabled them to do that.

As I believe I also added, if they went and showed Black Ops 2, or announced it, they would hint at a release date for the system.  They wanted neither date nor price to get get out now.
