Probably 2013 then. I'd bet we'll see a 3D mario (surprised you like 3D vs 2D mario), Star Fox (rumored Retro game), and some other big franchises in 2013.

To me for first party, Pikmin 3 and NSMBU are more than enough along with the 3rd party exclusive ZombiU and the other 3rd party games I'd rather buy on the WiiU over my PS3.

I've seen a lot of people say that.  I genuinely don't see what's so great about 2D Mario.  Just a colloquial example, but:

A friend and I have been playing Wii co-op platformers together lately.  We started with NSMBWii, which was fine, we had a decent time with it.  We then went on to Donkey Kong Country Returns, and it just blew Mario out of the water.  The quality of platforming, action AND environments was just miles above anything in the 2D Mario.  Should've added DK to my list really.

That, and I grew up on 3D platformers, so I'm much more partial to them.  The Ratchet and Clank games alonside SMG 1 & 2 are some of my favourite titles of this generation.
