If by bias you mean the views of someone who owns a Karaoke machine, uses it frequently with guests over and sees how Sing is a step backwards. 
My idea of something that sits on your lap, or on the controller itself, is for a game like Demon's/Dark Souls where you can't pause, so the menu screen to change armor/weapons/items leaves you incredibly vulnerable due to not having any idea what is going on while your in that screen. With a tablet on your lap you can pick it up at any moment and while the game is still going on when you change equipment you still can see what dangers are coming your way on screen and quickly react. Of course this would work better on the WiiU tablet than a seperate tablet since the controller is built around the tablet.
I brought this up in the same thread I complained about Sing.
