I was interested about this; I have compared information gathered at last week and compared it to the same time last year and here is the info: 2007: - DS - WW Weekly sales of 297k, total sales of 36m
- Wii - WW Weekly sales of 238k, total sales of 3.7m
- PSP - WW Weekly sales of 147k, total sales of 19m
- PS2 - WW Weekly sales of 132k, total sales of 106.7m
- 360 - WW Weekly sales of 114k, total sales of 8.3m
- PS3 - WW Weekly sales of 78k, total sales of 1.5m
2008: - DS - WW Weekly sales of 434k, total sales of 65.9m
- Wii - WW Weekly sales of 230k, total sales of 20.2m
- PSP - WW Weekly sales of 188k, total sales of 30.5m
- PS3 - WW Weekly sales of 143m, total sales of 9.5m
- PS2 - WW Weekly sales of 118k, total sales of 116m
- 360 - WW Weekly sales of 117k, total sales of 16.6m
What you can see is this: - The DS has sold 30m units in just 12 months - WOW
- The PSP has sold 11m units in 12 months
- The 360 has sold exactly 8.3m in 12 months
- The PS2 has sold around 8m in 12 months (not bad for a dying last gen console)
- The PS3 has sold 8m in 12 months.
- Also, the PS3 has sold 1m more units compared to the 360 over the same timeframe (ie. the first 14 months of their lifespans, although of which it was only released in Other for 10 months of this).
Going on from the last point, the 360 reached 9.5m in mid April last year, so the PS3 is around 3 months ahead sales wise. Here's hoping the PS3 can keep the sales up throughout this year and hit my end of year target of 19.5m at least. |
I'm a little unclear on the way the numbers are setup, but I do see your final numbers in your signature.
Everything looks reasonable, but I do think that NA and Europe will mirror opposite numbers for the PS3/360
NA
360 - 5m
PS3 - 3m
Europe
360 - 3m
PS3 - 5m
