I think the easiest thing to do is to simply wait until the console is released and make a decision for yourself; no?
Fact is, the WiiU is certainly more powerful than the current generation; be it 1.5x (mimimum) or 3x (maximum). If you're expecting a drastically bigger leap from the PS4/720, I'm afraid that ain't gonna happen under $500/£400.
The key thing is that the WiiU CAN port across games, and it can make them look more detailed. Much of this is from the at least 3x extra RAM, so it can handle more. And the GPU of course, but that depends on how it's optimised. Because of this, games from both this gen and next gen will be playable on the WiiU, and because of the CC shown, with a very similar button layout, this won't be a hard job.
Is that not the most important thing? Having both Nintendo games in HD AND 3rd party support?
