Sony is very relevant. PlayStation Mobile is an open app store like the Android Market and Apple Store. Microsoft's SmartGlass move is just an app for touchscreen devices, which needs strong dev support to be fully relevant. Where is the incentive for devs though? It's just an extra feature, one that won't have a selling point. Is SmartGlass even free? Will it even have full compatibility across all games/shows/movies? SmartGlass's functionality for Xbox could be overshadowed by Wii U and PS Vita, whose functionality could outshine SmartGlass if it doesn't operate fast enough, in other words using a more direct connection than over the internet.
Granted, I don't know enough about SmartGlass and I do find it interesting but its value is somewhat obscured while PlayStation Mobile has apparent value that along with new corporate guidence, changes is product lineups, and a PS4 on the horizon, Sony could very wellbe a heavy hitter in just a few years time. So until Microsoft shows us more on what SmartGlass can do and fixes its mobile market and Windows 8 image they could stand to lose a lot of ground and opportunity to every competitor.
Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(
