Sonic and Snake were not the only new characters in SSBB. King Dedede, Metaknight, Pit, Ike, Wolf, Diddy Kong, R.O.B., Zero Suit Samus, Olimar, Pokemon Trainer and Lucas were all new.

Exactly my point.  Sonic and Snake were the highlights for me among those characters (I wanted to like Olimar, but goddamn he was useless).  I'd also say - I'm a relatively average Nintendo fan, but some of those began to push the boundaries of characters I recognised (I had to google R.O.B and Pit (although I know who Pit is now, I didn't then)), so what could possibly be up next?

I personally like it when they pull characters out of old forgetten IPs but the main point here is that Non-Specific Action Figure would be a kick-ass fighter (even though NSAF can be considered way more obscure than R.O.B. or Mr. Game & Watch).
