Dissappointed, Final Fantasy is not about graphical prowess, I and many long standing fans have been saying this for a long time. No matter how beautiful it may look, if the story and plot sucks, the whole game sucks. Sakaguchi was writing compelling and dramatic stories in his FF games. Now its about "teh CGIs"

But they have been going for graphical prowress since VII. >_>

Then they simply stopped caring about the core values of FF.

That's not true at all.

Nearly every publisher and developer I can think of sought to push the graphical boundaries of their series with new iterations. Look at Gran Turismo, Uncharted, and Gears of War. Those series tried to push graphical prowess with each new entry.

You miss mah point. I was talking about the cutscene part. The CGI in FF13 looks phenomenal, I wonder if they put 80% of dev time in making those CGI movies.

There have been articles about FFXIII development in the past. Most of the dev time wasn't spent on CGI but general artwork, a lot of which wasn't used at all. This explains why most of the game is linear and has no side-quests but fighting. It's also why they managed to release FFXIII-2 so quickly.
