Interesting reading all the comments. The negativity comes from generally the same people who have been negative about Nintendo and mostly play other consoles. The positive comments come from those who have been staunch defenders of Nintendo.

All of this points to the fact that if the intent of this presser was to change people's minds, it did not accomplish that. But if it were to provide general information about console and the games coming out "in the launch window" (which appears to be through the Holiday season), then it did OK. And talk about understated -- Nintendo left two FIRST-PARTY games out that would have gathered more attention (and which may be later than the holidays): P-100 and Game & Wario.

Essentially, given the development time and business decisions, the line-up of games looks pretty good. It is a bit surprising that Activision is not represented, especially with Skylanders Giants (maybe backward comparability has something to do with it. Maybe the unknown of the controller NFC) and Tryarch's CoD:BO2 (since Tryarch tried on the Wii, something that Infinity Ward never seemed to do). But concerns about updated ports miss the point that those happen all the time and reach new audiences.

Look, time will show who is right. Nintendo has a decent line-up -- just a bad stage presence. The 5-minute sizzle reel on the Wii's Nintendo Channel was better than the e3 show.

And nothing has deterred me from a Day 1 purchase.

I am Mario.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.
