Apparently it was. It is a glorous train wreck that can remind one how it low it can go, combining all the elements that give core gamers a want to rate a presentation an F: Horrible execution, weirdness, failed attempts at humor, false ability to generate excitement (RIIIDGE RAAACER), and content that a core gamers have zero interest in. It is glorously bad.
What you see is the Big 3 will very likely not sink to that level again, ever. They will likely play it safe. I would also suggest core gamers think who E3 is for. it is to show business direction for a company's console. They can also maybe do some surprises, but the audience is likely mostly investors, to make the stock prices seem ok. They do stuff to try to entertain core gamers though, who now are watching. But, it is all about business.
